Kanye West’s Seven-Screen Custom-Built Cinema In Cannes

Kanye West premiered his 30 minute short film Cruel Summer at the Cannes Film Festival last week in a seven-screen cinema, custom-built for the debut. Yeezy was stunting for real when he put this together. Kanye West premiered his film, Cruel Summer, at the Cannes Film Festival today, and details and pictures are starting to surface. Cruel Summer is the story of a Lamborghini car thief who falls for a beautiful blind Arabic girl who’s father will let them marry if he can help her see. So he (Kid Cudi) does using strings that lead her around palace to play music.

Kanye West says it’s a work in progress but it’s wildly stylish, huge booming soundtrack, Vanessa beecroft production design. Immersive fun.

Kanye says he had to get script approval in Qatar. He needed 20 camels, 100 extras, and around 20 Lambos.

His female star (Sarah A., an intern at Doha Film Institute) is the star of Cruel Summer.

The film features fashion he designed and pieces by local Arabic designers, shot in 4 days, 3 months start to almost-finish.

Amanda Palmer of Doha Film Inst says Cruel Summer will premiere Nov19 as part of festival in Doha.

Cruel Summer premieres tonight

Cannes attendees will “experience” Kanye West’s new film foray tonight. The rapper will debut his movie “Cruel Summer” at Le Palm Beach Casino and host an after-party at the Provocateur pop-up club in Palm Beach, which will include a performance by Kid Cudi. The movie is described as an “immersive ‘Seven Screen Experience’ for the eyes and ears unlike anything West has attempted before.” The flick was filmed in Qatar and stars comedian Aziz Ansari and Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, while West is listed as a writer, producer and director.

Kanye West has revealed details on the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album and film; both will share the name “Cruel Summer”. The Kanye-directed film will debut at Cannes Film Festival on May 23, featuring Kid Cudi among a few other actors, including Aziz Ansari.

She gave some details on who made the final cut of the album: “Basically everybody on the album, I fuck with. I fuck with their music, I fuck with them personally.” Kreayshawn says currently they are about 15 tracks. Guest appearances are 2 Chainz, Kid Cudi, Chippy Nonstop, DB Tha General, V-Nasty and Sissy Nobby. Producers include Diplo (who is also featured on the track), DJ Two Stacks of “Gucci, Gucci” fame, Boys Noize, and Cool & Dre. Somethin’ Bout Kreay is slated for a summer release.
